The Town of Cagliari

Cagliari is the chief town and the regional capital of Sardinia and the most important town and port of the island, which is the base for the local economy.
The town had been found in ancient times, and it become an important Romanic port. In the anthropologic museum people can see rare bronze testimonies of the mysterious civilization of “nuraghi” ( megalithic towers ) . Many are the archeology sites Romanic and Punic around the town.  

The province of Cagliari includes 109 communes and, especially the area of Sulcis and Iglesiente, is rich in mines of zinc, lead and fossil fuels.
There are also some local food industry and the textile production, while the activities connected to fishing and tourism have developed along the coast. Also 9 km of beach and weather always warm, make Cagliari one of the most attractive town of the Mediterranean.  The most important religious folk tradition develops every year on 1 of May (S.Efisio fest), in witch all the people come from any sides of the Island dressed with typical popular wears.

The fastest way to reach Cagliari is flying and the airport where you can land is Elmas, that connects the town with the most important Italian and European towns through national and international flights.
If you prefer travelling by sea, you can reach Sardinia and, in particular Cagliari, by covering various distances: Civitavecchia-Cagliari, Trapani-Tunisi-Cagliari, as well as Naples-Cagliari and Palermo-Cagliari.
If you choose the train, the Italian Railways only cover the distance Sassari-Oristano-Cagliari and the mainroad SS 131 Carlo Felice connects Cagliari to Oristano, Sassari and Porto Torres.
